American Airlines and JetBlue in 2023 will expand their Northeast Alliance with 10 additional destinations from New York's LaGuardia Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport, the carriers announced Friday.
Starting May 5, American will begin service between LaGuardia and each Birmingham, Ala., (once daily); Buffalo, N.Y., (three times daily); Columbia (once daily) and Greenville (twice daily) in South Carolina; Grand Rapids, Mich., (once daily); and Knoxville, Tenn., (once daily).
In addition, the carrier is expanding seasonal flights between LaGuardia and Asheville, N.C., to year-round service, and it will add an additional frequency between Boston and Louisville, Ky.
JetBlue in spring 2023 will introduce four daily nonstop flights between LaGuardia and Atlanta, as well as a daily flight between LaGuardia and Nassau, Bahamas. It also will add once-daily summer seasonal service between LaGuardia and each Hyannis, Mass., and Bermuda. The Nassau and Bermuda flights are pending government approval.
In summer 2023, JetBlue will expand its premium Mint product with Saturday service between Newark and Aruba, and will introduce a daily seasonal flight between Newark and Montego Bay, Jamaica. JetBlue also plans to add daily summer seasonal service between Boston and Vancouver, B.C.
JetBlue routes will go on sale in January; all new American routes go on sale this coming weekend, according to JetBlue.
American's Additional Expanded Service
American plans to offer additional transatlantic flights from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to each Paris Charles de Gaulle and Rome starting in April. The carrier also plans to increase frequencies between Miami International Airport and each London Heathrow and São Paulo.
In addition, the airline will change its daily service between Dallas-Fort Worth and Anchorage to a Boeing 787 aircraft, offering more seats. It also plans to resume several routes that were stopped during the pandemic or due to aircraft delivery delays, including between Charlotte, N.C., and each Paris and Frankfurt, Germany; Dallas/Fort Worth and each Santiago, Chile, and Tokyo-Haneda; Los Angeles and each Tokyo-Haneda and Sydney, Australia; and Seattle and London-Heathrow.
