American Airlines has expanded its prepaid AirPass program to include some flights on three partner airlines: Finnair, Iberia and Japan Airlines.
The partner flights available for purchase via AirPass includes flight operated by Iberia, Finnair and JAL that are codeshare flights with American and are ticketed on American's ticket stock, according to an American spokesperson. Travel on those airlines might not include all AirPass membership benefits but will include Admirals Club access, free checked baggage and fixed-rate fares, according to American.
In addition, American is making its Five Star Service, which gives travelers personal assistance at the airport for flights and connections, available to buy with AirPass funds, the carrier announced. It halved the minimum threshold for membership to $5,000 per traveler earlier this year, which now extends through the end of this year, and it also is including a free Wi-Fi subscription as a part of membership beginning next year.
