The total consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S. travel agencies rose 10.8 percent year over year to $8.2 billion in October, according to Airlines Reporting Corp. The average U.S. round-trip ticket price was $509. The total number of trips on direct or connecting flights in October was 25 million, up 4.63 percent year over year. Total U.S. domestic trips rose 2.1 percent, and international trips rose 8.8 percent. Electronic miscellaneous document sales, which cover ancillary services like upgraded seats, rose 5.63 percent year over year to $6.1 million. EMD transactions increased 0.9 percent to 100,665.
