The consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies rose 8.1 percent year over year in September, totaling $7.5 billion, according to Airlines Reporting Corp. Passenger trips on direct or connecting flights rose 2.1 percent to 23.6 million. U.S. domestic trips fell 1.8 percent, while international trips increased 10.3 percent. Electronic miscellaneous document sales, which include upgraded seats and other ancillary services, totaled $5.4 million, a 2.6 percent year-over-year increase. EMD transactions increased 5.5 percent to 95,821.
