The consolidated dollar value of airline tickets
sold by U.S.-based travel agencies increased 1.3 percent year over year in
April to $7.8 billion, according to Airlines Reporting Corp. Total airfares
sold rose 1.25 percent, and the number of passenger trips decreased 0.5 percent;
a 7 percent increase in international trips offset a 4.3 percent decrease in
domestic trips. The average price of a U.S. round-trip ticket in April was $501,
up about $20 year over year, according to ARC.
