After four consecutive months of record U.S.-based travel agency air ticket sales settled by Airlines Reporting Corp., November sales declined 1.4 percent year over year to more than $7.5 billion, according to its latest report.
Passenger trips in November were nearly 20.5 million, down about 1 percent year over year. U.S. domestic trips declined 3.9 percent from a year prior to nearly 12.5 million, while international passenger trips increased nearly 4 percent to more than 8.1 million.
The number of November trips sold by travel agencies with at least 70 percent self-reported corporate and government business counted by ARC had its steepest drop of the year so far, declining 11.3 percent compared with November 2024. September was the only month year-to-date with a year-over-year increase in the number of corporate trips identified by ARC.
"The November results show the impact of both the U.S. government shutdown and mandated flight cuts on agency air ticket sales," ARC chief commercial officer Steve Solomon said in a statement.
New Distribution Capability transactions from 1,140 agencies accounted for 21.2 percent of total November ARC-settled transactions, up from the 20.6 percent in November 2024.
The November average price for a U.S. domestic roundtrip ticket was $582, up from $576 reported in each November 2024 and October 2025.
The average price in November for an economy-class ticket was $521, down 1 percent year over year. The average price for a premium-class ticket increased 7 percent for the same period to $1,399.
