Flush with recent funding, Barcelona-headquartered business
travel booking and management provider TravelPerk is doubling its London-based
team and has hired Richard Viner to lead the charge as country manager. Viner
comes to TravelPerk from corporate travel management company Direct ATPI Global
Travel, where he served as global sales lead.
TravelPerk co-founder and CEO Avi Meir called the expansion
a "natural next step" for the company, which he said has seen strong
growth in the U.K. over the past year. London ranks as the main European hub
for TravelPerk customers; 10 percent of trips booked through the platform in
2018 started or ended in the city, the company said.
Launched in 2015, TravelPerk has racked up plenty of
investor interest in its small and midsize enterprise-targeted booking and trip
management platform, which offers content from global distribution systems,
online travel agencies and aggregators, as well as direct supplier content. In
October, TravelPerk landed $44
million in Series C funding, earmarked for growth in various geographic
markets. That round came just six months after a $21
million financing round in April 2018.
