Data analytics and reporting provider Prime Numbers Technology has launched a new natural-language interface that the company said will make it easier for users to get data insights on corporate travel programs.
The interface, Prime AI, is built into the Prime Analytics corporate data platform, and lets users—including travel managers and travel management company account teams—ask questions about their data in natural language. For example, they could ask to see their largest savings opportunities or ask for help building a specific report. Results are returned as text summaries and detailed reports.
The idea for Prime AI was around simplifying the experience for users and "negating" and "flattening" the need for training, Prime Numbers director of product and consulting Kate Saab said. "It's bringing them to a single-page experience versus having to remember how to navigate a tool, and be able to ask a question and get a quick answer," she said.
Prime AI gives companies a choice of two modes: one in which it directly analyzes authorized travel data or a "data-separated mode" in which prompts deliver instructions for building reports without the data touching the conversational layer, according to the company. Permissions also are inherited from the prime platform, ensuring users are seeing only information for which they are authorized.
Among the TMC partners using Prime AI are Altour and JTB Business Travel, both of which will be demonstrating the capabilities during this week's Business Travel Show Europe in London.
Later this year, Prime Numbers is launching a Model Context Protocol server layer, through which clients will be able to connect their data to such AI platforms as Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot. That will let companies combine travel data with other enterprise systems, such as finance and budget data, as well, the company said.
Prime Numbers president Mark Bresnahan said the company is building towards a future where companies are building their own experiences for data visualization.
"What we're trying to build out is an experience where you don't have to go into any of these tools, and everything is going to be brought back to that front page, that chat experience that everyone is getting used to with Claude, Gemini and ChatGPT," he said. "Our real value is going to be in our expertise around the data, and our ability to bring it from all these sources together, clean it, normalize the data and provide it to them so AI can leverage it."
Disclosure: JTB Business Travel is a part of JTB Corp., which owns BTN parent company Northstar Travel Group.
