Corporate booking tool pioneer Louis Arnitz, the creator of Cytric, died suddenly at the age of 63. Arnitz founded i:FAO as a travel agency in Germany in 1977. In 1993, i:FAO launched an online booking tool, which was branded separately as Cytric in 2000. Amadeus took a majority holding in i:FAO, now around 90 percent, in 2014, eventually merging Cytric with its own e-Travel Management tool as Amadeus Cytric. Arnitz served as CEO of the Frankfurt-based i:FAO until 2017.
