Virgin America's passenger revenue increased 4.9
percent to $377.5 million in the second quarter. Capacity increased 15.3
percent, and traffic increased 16.2 percent, pushing load factor up 0.7
percentage points to 85.8 percent. Virgin America's average fare declined 9.2
percent to $180.92, and yield declined 9.7 percent. The carrier reported a
second-quarter net income of $38.1 million, down from $65 million in the second
quarter of 2015.
