InterContinental Hotels Group's average daily
rate increased 1.6 percent year over year during the first quarter to $106.19.
Occupancy dipped 0.1 percentage points to 63.7 percent. "We made good
start to the year driving [revenue per available room] up 1.5 percent against a
backdrop of weak oil markets and the earlier timing of Easter, which affected
several of our key markets," CFO Paul Edgecliffe-Johnson said. IHG signed
more than 15,000 rooms into its pipeline during the quarter and increased net
rooms 2.7 percent year over year, opening 5,000 rooms.
