Extended Stay America saw average daily rate increase 2.4 percent year over year to $68.84 during the third quarter. Occupancy increased from 78.4 percent to 79.4 percent. The company is still on track to have all of its 629 property renovations completed by the end of 2017, having finished renovations at 547 properties by the end of the third quarter. ESA also saw modest progress on its initiative to increase the number of one- to six-night stays, which grew from 33 percent of its revenue mix in the third quarter of 2015 to 36 percent in the third quarter of 2016. Total revenue increased 3.9 percent to $354.5 million.
