InterContinental Hotels Group systemwide occupancy increased 0.4 percentage points year
over year to 72.9 percent, while average daily rate rose 0.9 percent to
$115.12. The Americas saw the weakest growth in revenue per available room, up
a slight 0.1 percent in U.S. dollars. Europe posted 5.5 percent RevPAR growth.
Healthy gains were also experienced by Africa, Middle East and Asia, at 2.7
percent, and Greater China, at 4.4 percent. As of June 30, IHG's portfolio totaled
777,675 rooms across 5,221 hotels, and its pipeline was 229,526 rooms across 1,513
hotels. Year-over-year net system size grew 3.7 percent, as IHG exited
approximately 12,000 rooms from the portfolio in an effort to improve quality. Revenue
increased 2 percent year over year to $857 million.
