United Airlines has hired American Airlines
president Scott Kirby as president, a new role at the carrier. Kirby became
American's president in 2013 upon its merger with US Airways, for which he had
served as
president since 2006. He now bears responsibility for United's sales,
operations, marketing, alliances, network planning and revenue management. In a
statement, United CEO Oscar Munoz called the appointment "the culmination
of the formation of my senior leadership team," and it is one
of several recent leadership appointments for the carrier.
