American Airlines SVP for network, planning, alliances and
sales Andrew Nocella is resigning from his position to take a senior position
at United Airlines, according to a letter American president Robert Isom sent
to employees.
Noting "an exceptionally talented group of leaders in
place … who already oversee those functions that reported to Andrew," the
carrier does not plan to replace Nocella, Isom said. SVP of global sales Alison
Taylor, who joined
in September and reported to Nocella, now will report to SVP of marketing
and loyalty Kurt Stache. Isom said Taylor has been producing "great
results," and Nocella
last month said the carrier was looking to build up its corporate sales
force.
"Our sales team has never been in better hands, and
aligning this organization with Kurt's team will create increased collaboration
between all of our customer loyalty, branding, marketing and sales
functions," Isom said in the letter.
A
United Airlines spokesman confirmed that Nocella will join the carrier's
leadership team. In August, American
president Scott Kirby left the carrier to take the same role at United.
