AI infrastructure developer Murfee AI has partnered with global payments company Worldpay to provide its "governance layer" for agentic commerce via Worldpay's gateways, the companies announced.
With the partnership, Murfee AI's Model Context Protocol—which allows AI models to connect with other data and software systems—will bridge interactions between AI agents and the Worldpay network, according to Murfee. AI-initiated instructions are verified by Murfee AI before they reach Worldpay to make sure they are compliant.
For example, it can detect if an agent is trying to book a hotel that exceeds a company's spend cap policy or a nonpreferred carrier on a route where a company is contractually required to use a preferred carrier and stop the transaction before it reaches the Worldpay network.
Having that "critical checkpoint" will broaden Worldpay's reach into agentic commerce, according to Murfee. "Enterprise clients who have hesitated to authorize AI-initiated payments now have a deterministic compliance layer sitting between the AI agent and the payment rail," according to the company.
