Emburse has partnered with American Express to add new virtual card issuance and real-time transaction data features for Emburse Enterprise customers, the companies announced.
The virtual card integration feature expands on last year's integration of Amex with Emburse Spend, which targets small and midsized clients. Now, Amex clients on Emburse Enterprise—formerly Chrome River—can issue Amex virtual cards within the platform, with expense entries created and categorized automatically as spending occurs.
"Expense management remains a cumbersome process for our enterprise customers," Amex SVP of corporate and B-to-B products Widad Chaoui said in a statement. "They are looking for ways to simplify the employee experience [while] strengthening policy adherence and controls. We're thrilled to partner with Emburse to deliver an intelligent expense experience and give our customers even more from their card programs."
The feature currently is available to all U.S.-based joint clients.
Amex and Emburse also announced a new real-time transaction data capability for Emburse Enterprise, with which Amex will send corporate card transaction data to Emburse as purchases occur, automatically creating and categorizing expense entries and letting administrators see authorized transactions. Cardholders receive mobile notifications shortly after purchases prompting them to capture their receipts in the app, the companies said.
That feature currently is available to select Amex corporate card customers in the U.S. who are using Emburse Enterprise. It will be expanded to clients using Emburse Spend and Emburse's midmarket offering Emburse Professional next year, according to the companies.
