The fourth version of Spain-based expense management
provider Captio's mobile app includes a new user interface, receipt photo
enhancements and customization options. In September, Captio raised €1 million
(US$1.1 million), saying it would improve the user experience and develop its
travel booking module.
The app's home page now displays a list of expenses, rather
than a menu, which now is accessible from the top left corner or by swiping
from left to right. The home screen also allows users to create a new expense
item by photographing a receipt, and a SmartPhoto option identifies the edges
of a receipt and crops it.
Users now can choose to wait to fill in whatever receipt information
optical character recognition did not capture. Previously, they had to input required
information immediately after the receipt was uploaded. Users also
simultaneously can preview the receipt on the same screen as the expense report
entry. To display the receipt on full screen, users tap the Preview button.
Users can refresh the app by swiping from top to bottom, review
approved reports and delete expenses from the list.
Captio also claimed to have increased the speed of
synchronization between the app and its server, and users can manually prompt
synchronization from the settings menu. An icon on the mobile device identifies
items that have not synchronized with Captio's server.
Captio's app update also added Catalan and
Portuguese. The app was already available in English, French, Italian and
Spanish.
