TSYS, whose payment systems process 85 percent of commercial card transactions, is using its technology to power a new virtual card solution. TSYS—known for its point-of-sale payment systems, payment services for merchants, services for acquiring banks and prepaid cards—released Virtual Payment Precept for banks to offer to their corporate customers. The solution can be used for business-to-business payments, including flights and hotels, said TSYS commercial e-payables associate product director Katie Bush. TSYS's technology provides the virtual card numbers on the back end, while the card issuer will enable travel buyers to call up virtual cards, whether for single use or multiple uses, explained Bush. TSYS does not have a client yet, considering the product "went into production two weeks ago," she said, adding that it is working with several prominent clients for contracts.
