Worldspan To Display Hotel Taxes In GDS

Worldspan, the Atlanta-based global distribution system, today announced the introduction of new technology that discloses all hotel taxes, surcharges and any other fees, along with the basic room rate, when travel agents use the system to book a room.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is the first company to participate in the program. Other hotel companies are expected soon to make available similar data for their properties. For buyers, knowing there are surcharges in addition to the basic rates especially is valuable, since these fees often were concealed in the past until the traveler checked out.
