Striking Midwest Express Attendants Target Corp. Clients
The Association of Flight Attendants, representing more than 400 flight attendants for Milwaukee-based Midwest Express, stepped up its rhetoric today, threatening to carry out localized strikes affecting the carrier's corporate clients and individual business travelers. A cooling-off period for the flight attendants and Midwest Express management, related to contentious contract negotiations, ended Aug. 30.
"If it's important for business travelers to get to their destination, fly on another airline," said Toni Phillips, president of the AFA Master Executive Council. "Luckily, there are alternatives for travelers to virtually every destination Midwest Express flies. Book on one of the alternatives so you can have a successful trip."
The labor union added that "travel agents and the corporate travel departments of Midwest Express' key customers will soon begin receiving even stronger warnings from the flight attendants" as the union prepares additional strike activity.
