Revenue for Hertz's U.S. rental car brands rose 4.5 percent year over year during the three months ending March 31,
the company reported Friday. Total rental revenue per day declined 1.6 percent from the prior-year period, "due to excess fleet," the Easter holiday shift and business mix changes as it introduced its new discount Firefly brand on-airport. Yet, the company indicated that "positive commercial pricing" contributed to a 1 percent rise in on-airport revenue for its classic Hertz brand. The company has delayed filing its first-quarter financial results with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as it undergoes an "accounting review" to address errors in prior years' results.
