Grand Hyatt New York Pilots Grab-And-Go Dining
The Grand Hyatt New York this month opened a grab-and-go-style dining option that Hyatt Hotels Corp. is considering expanding across some of its other urban properties. The restaurant, Market, is a 24-hour shop in the hotel's lobby, selling hot meals, sandwiches, beer and wine, similar to such gourmet food markets as Dean & DeLuca. Hyatt designed the restaurant to supplement its room service offerings, though it will continue to offer traditional room service. Items are packaged in bags and to-go boxes, and guests can charge the food directly to their room. Meanwhile, the property last month unveiled its renovated Empire Ballroom, following a $12 million facelift for the 18,000-sq.-ft. space. Renovations to the historic ballroom include chandeliers decorated with hand-blown glass, a marble foyer and beaded glass drapery in the entrance. The project also installed new audiovisual equipment and lighting and communications systems. The ballroom can accommodate events of up to 1,500 guests and be divided into five meeting units.
