Travel and spend management platform Engine has launched a new API that lets companies integrate its hotel booking experience in a website or app, the company announced.
The API, Omni Powered by Engine, is "a developer-friendly infrastructure that empowers our partners to integrate seamless hotel booking right into their existing platforms," Engine CEO Elia Wallen said in a statement. That prevents companies from having to build connections with suppliers, payment infrastructure, search capabilities, compliance systems and traveler support, according to Engine.
Global industrial technology company Trimble already has integrated Omni with its Trimble Places commercial location database in North America. The database for commercial drivers connects them to more than 6 million commercial vehicle locations around the world, such as fuel stops and warehouses, and now they can have "real-time hotel booking capabilities directly within our ecosystem, enhancing the driver experience without requiring them to leave the platforms they already trust," Trimble director of partnerships and channel sales Seth Handler said in a statement.
Trimble plans to integrate Omni into other platforms, including Trimble Road Call, its vehicle breakdown module, and its GPS navigation solution Trimble CoPilot. Engine, meanwhile, has made Omni available to other developers and organizations to integrate.
