JetBlue Airways this week activated "automatic check-in" for those customers booked in its premium-economy seats.
The airline announced that such customers 24 hours before scheduled flight departure will receive via email a boarding pass that can be printed or displayed on mobile devices using JetBlue's iOS or Android apps. "The idea of asking customers to jump an additional hurdle before their flight is an increasingly antiquated concept," according to a statement from Blair Koch, JetBlue vice president of commercial and shared development services. The airline said it would expand eligibility in 2015 beyond those in its "Even More Space" seats.
