Global passenger traffic in May increased 6.2 percent year over year,

according to the International Air Transport Association. Capacity increased 5.2 percent year over year, and load factor was up 0.7 percentage points to 79 percent. Traffic was up in all regions excluding Africa, which "could be in part reflecting adverse economic developments in some parts of the continent, with the slowdown of the major economy of South Africa," according to IATA.
