The average base salary for U.S. travel buyers in 2013
increased by 3.6 percent compared with the prior year, according to a Global
Business Travel Association survey of 465 travel buyers.
The survey, conducted in September, reported that U.S.
travel buyers earn on average $93,937 per year, with about two-thirds of buyers
earning a bonus on top of that. The average bonus for buyers in the survey was
$13,845.
As respondents in Business
Travel News'2013 Travel Manager Salary and Attitude Survey
similarly noted, GBTA survey showed that travel buyer salaries largely are
proportional to the average travel spend of a company. Buyers managing annual spend
of less than $2.5 million this year earned an average base salary of $76,080,
and those managing at least $10 million earned $108,749, according to the GBTA
survey.
About 60 percent of respondents in the GBTA survey said they
were satisfied with their compensation levels, the association reported.
