Delta Unit Focusing On Biz Jets
Delta Air Lines subsidiary Comair Jet Express today announced a name change to Delta AirElite Business Jets, reflecting an enhanced focus on corporate jet charter and aircraft management services.
"Demand for premium corporate aircraft management and charter services has experienced rapid growth over the past few years," said Frederick Reid, Delta president and chief operating officer.
According to the carrier, Delta AirElite Business Jets is complementary to the mainline network, while "leveraging buying power and operating expertise."
The renamed unit is similar to one being developed at United Airlines (BTN, May 7).
Separately, Delta sold its 11 percent equity stake in Delta Connection Carrier SkyWest for $125 million. Despite selling its share of the carrier to help its own financial position, Delta said it?s codesharing relationship will remain intact.
