Delta Air Lines is in talks to purchase Singapore Airlines' 49 percent stake in Virgin Atlantic Airways, according to several media outlets.

Virgin founder Richard Branson holds the remaining 51 percent of the carrier. "We are always talking to many airlines on a number of different matters, but we never comment on the details of these discussions," according to a Virgin Atlantic spokeswoman. Delta and Singapore Airlines did not immediately reply to requests for comment.
