Amtrak on March 1, 2014, will require passengers to cancel tickets at least 24 hours prior to departure to be eligible for refunds.

Amtrak on its website indicated that an unspecified "refund fee will apply" when canceling Value tickets while Saver tickets are not refundable. According to the updated policy, "If the reservation is not canceled prior to the scheduled departure, the entire amount paid for the reservation will be forfeited (Value and Saver fare tickets)."
