Alaska Airlines in September was the most punctual among the major North American network carriers with an on-time arrival rate of 88.6 percent,

according to FlightStats. On average, 82.2 percent of flights on North American carriers arrived at their gates within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival time during the month. Among the eight largest U.S.-based carriers, excluding regional partners, JetBlue (86.7 percent), Delta (85.1 percent), Virgin America (84.6 percent) and US Airways (83.2 percent) had on-time performances above the average. Southwest Airlines (81.2 percent), American Airlines (79.5 percent) and United Airlines (78.1 percent) were below average, FlightStats reported.
