Navan has introduced more granular controls in its policy and approval engine for air, rail and hotel bookings, the travel and expense platform announced.
For flights, the upgrade lets travel programs tailor cost limits, cabin eligibility, advance-booking requirements and upgrade rules based on both the traveler group and the duration of the flight, according to Navan. Programs now also can tailor rail policy by travel group and journey duration, and Navan additionally has expanded the number of cabin class categories from two to four for further policy tailoring, the company said.
For their hotel program, companies with Navan now can enforce nightly limits at the country level, with exceptions made for specific cities in those countries, and those limits can be used alongside dynamic policies as well, according to Navan.
Navan said the additional controls build on its strategy of enabling dynamic travel policies, which let policies adapt to changing market conditions rather than relying on rigid rules and rate caps.
"The answer is not a longer rulebook—it is a more adaptive model that allows people to operate without tying their hands behind their backs," Navan chief travel advisory officer Kim Hamer said in a statement. "Our enhanced policy controls do just that by giving travelers relevant guidance in the moment and providing organizations greater control and visibility to manage through changing business needs."
