Catalin Ciobanu as Areka Consulting's new VP of data and AI
Business travel consultancy Areka has added former CWT
Solutions Group executive Catalin Ciobanu as its VP of data and AI, the company
announced this week.
In the role, Ciobanu will "spearhead the evolution of
Areka's innovation roadmap," according to a company statement, focusing on
"leveraging emerging technologies" to help deliver solutions to
clients.
"Data and AI are transforming how travel programs are
managed—shifting from hindsight reporting to foresight-driven decision making,"
Ciobanu said in a statement. "As business travel becomes more integrated
with broader workforce and sustainability strategies, clients are looking for
solutions that can mine insights across multiple data sources."
Ciobanu formerly was the senior director of data and
analytics for CWT Solutions Group, the consultancy owned by the travel
management company. Since 2017, he had served as CTO of Boost.rs, a human
resources technology firm that he co-founded.
Ciobanu holds a Ph.D. in physics from Ohio State University.
