Business Travel News portfolio mate The Beat today announced former BTN Europe editor Andrew Hoskins will take the lead editorial role at the subscription-based business travel technology and distribution intelligence channel, effective immediately.
Hoskins brings to The Beat more than 20 years' experience covering the travel industry, including a decade focused specifically on corporate travel. His reporting is characterized by rigor, tenacity and a clear understanding of the forces inside and outside the industry that are shaping business travel. He will report to BTN VP of content Elizabeth West.
"Andy was the clear choice to take The Beat forward with piercing, independent journalism that gets to the heart of industry power dynamics, partnerships and go-forward strategies in an increasingly complex macroenvironment," said West. "He also brings a global viewpoint into focus, which will provide relevance to new audiences."
The Beat maintains an editorial advisory board that weighed in on what they expected from its next editorial leader. They emphasized deep network connections, the ability to draw stories out of opaque industry constructs, strong article angles and a unique voice that keeps an edge.
"I'm thrilled to take on editorial leadership at The Beat. It has set the highest bar for industry intelligence and it's an honor to take the reins from the editors who shaped it into what it is today," said Hoskins. "While there's certainly a sense of continuity, I look forward to changes and fresh perspectives as The Beat continues to evolve its coverage."
Hoskins succeeds longtime editor-in-chief Jay Boehmer, who has joined business travel strategic communications and events firm Kintela as a partner.
