JetBlue's passenger revenue increased 2.7 percent year over
year to $1.5 billion in the fourth quarter.
Traffic increased 6 percent year over year during the
quarter as JetBlue increased capacity 4.5 percent, pushing load factor up 1.1
percentage points to 84.7 percent. The average fare declined 4 percent year
over year to $154.94.
EVP of commercial and planning Marty St. George said demand
on transcontinental routes and business routes out of Boston both have been
strong. The latter has "seen the benefits of adding key destinations that
our corporate customers have been asking us to serve," such as the
Boston-to-New York LaGuardia service added in October, he said. JetBlue also
plans to expand its premium Mint offering this year, including on routes
between Fort Lauderdale and each Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well as its
route between San Diego and New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.
JetBlue
reported a net income of $759 million for the full year 2016, up 12 percent
compared with 2015.
