Hyatt Hotels Corp. has promoted longtime company executive Jason Ballard to global brand leader of its Essentials select-service and extended-stay portfolio, effective immediately, the company announced Tuesday.
Ballard, who has been with Hyatt since 2006, most recently served as head of operations for Hyatt Studios, the new upper-midscale extended-stay brand that opened its first property this year.
The Essentials portfolio includes extended-stay brands Hyatt Studios and Hyatt House and select-service brands Caption, Hyatt Place, Hyatt Select, Unscripted and UrCove, according to Hyatt. Ballard will "oversee strategy, operations, performance, and brand evolution" for the portfolio, a spokesperson told BTN.
Before overseeing Hyatt Studios' operations, Ballard served as VP of select-service franchise operations. He joined Hyatt in 2006 after a stint at US Airways.
Hyatt, meanwhile, said it had signed more than 20 deals in 2025 for Hyatt Select, the limited-service upper-midscale brand it announced this year, and has reached 70 deals for Hyatt Studios properties. Hyatt in October said it would open 50 Hyatt Studios properties in China.
