G6 Hospitality, which has long anchored its business in the economy hotel tier with the Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands, is moving up the chainscale with an expansion into midscale extended-stay, the company announced Tuesday.
To lead the effort, G6 has named former Wyndham Hotels & Resorts exec Krishna Paliwal as president of midscale extended-stay. In his role, Paliwal will drive strategy for future midscale extended-stay brands, as well as G6's upper economy extended-stay brands like the recently launched Studio 6 Plus.
Paliwal at Wyndham served as president of the La Quinta and Hawthorne Suites brands and as head of architecture, design and construction where he contributed to the launch of economy extended-stay brand Echo Suites.
By moving into the midscale extended-stay segment, G6 will bump up against new and established players, including Extended Stay America, @Home by Best Western, Everhome Suites by Choice Hotels International and Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts' Candlewood Suites.
