Canadian technology company TravelAI plans to resurrect Sonder in name only after it acquired the former apartment-style accommodations provider’s brand and intellectual property.
Montreal-founded Sonder filed for bankruptcy in November 2025. Vancouver-based TravelAI and its parent brand UpNext Ventures announced Monday it had purchased the Sonder word mark, registered global trademarks and a portfolio of more than 70 Sonder-affiliated domain names from the estates of Sonder's Canadian entities through their court-supervised bankruptcy.
The purchase was approved by The Superior Court of Québec on July 6, according to TravelAI. None of Sonder's operating business, including its properties, leases, inventory or staff, was included in the deal.
The Sonder website will relaunch as “a curated guide to the world's best urban stays, and as a flagship consumer brand," according to TravelAI.
