Transient hotel reservations in 25 major North American cities on the books for the next 12 months are 5 percent higher than the same period a year prior,

according to data from TravelClick. The average daily rate on those bookings is up 4.2 percent. Group business on the books is up 1.3 percent, and the ADR on those bookings is up 1.5 percent. TravelClick executive vice president of business intelligence Tim Hart noted that "it is clear that this will not be year of large gains in the group segment" and that "the transient segment…will continue to be the key driver of hotel growth through the end of 2013."
