Transient business hotel bookings for the fourth quarter are trending 5.8 percent higher than in the fourth quarter of 2012
and the average daily rate on those bookings is 3.6 percent higher than last year, according to TravelClick. Reserved group occupancy, however, is down 0.5 percent, with ADR on those bookings 0.4 percent higher than last year. For the first quarter of 2014, transient business bookings are up 1.9 percent compared with the prior year and ADR is up 13.4 percent. Committed group occupancy for that quarter—which includes committed group rooms in addition to actual reserved rooms—is up 10.7 percent and ADR for the segment is up 3.4 percent year over year, according to TravelClick.
