The average daily third-quarter rate in U.S. dollars at Starwood's properties globally nearly was flat year over year.
The average rate was up 3.3 percent in North America, nearly flat in Africa and the Middle East, down by 1.4 percent in Asia/Pacific, down by 1.9 percent in Latin America and down by 10.2 percent in Europe. Global occupancy increased by 1.2 percentage points to 71.3 percent. The company's net income for the quarter was $170 million, up from $163 million in the third quarter of 2011.
