The average daily rate at Marriott International properties increased by 3.4 percent year over year to $140.53 worldwide during the third quarter,
the company reported on Wednesday. In North America, ADR across all brands was up 3.9 percent to $134.60, and occupancy increased by 0.9 percentage points to 75 percent. Full-service and luxury North American hotel ADR increased by 4.5 percent to $167.17, and select-service ADR in North America increased by 3.5 percent to $134.60. ADR during the quarter declined in Europe (down 1.7 percent to $164.08) and the Asia/Pacific region (down 0.2 percent to $142.79) but increased in the Caribbean and Latin America (up 5.1 percent to $167.64) and the Middle East and Africa (up 6.9 percent to $138.65). Marriott's net income for the quarter was $160 million, up from $143 million in the third quarter of 2012.
