The average daily rate at Extended Stay America properties increased 5.7 percent year over year to $55.39 during the first quarter,
the company reported on Wednesday. Occupancy declined by 0.6 percentage points to 70 percent. Extended Stay America's first-quarter net income was $16.1 million, up from $13.9 million in the first quarter of 2013.
