The average daily rate at China Lodging Group properties during the first quarter decreased 0.6 percent year over year to 171 yuan,
the company reported on Thursday. The company noted same-store ADR actually was up slightly but was offset by a shift to more stays in lower-tier cities. Measured in dollars, using the exchange rate as of March 31 of their respective years, ADR was up 1.9 percent year over year to $27.74. Occupancy declined by one percentage point to 85.5 percent. The company posted a net loss of 13.3 million yuan ($2.1 million) during the first quarter, compared with a net loss of 69,000 yuan ($10,000) during the first quarter of 2013.
