North America group hotel bookings during the first three months of 2012 for stays through the end of the year are up 5.1 percent
versus a year ago, according to TravelClick. The average rate on those bookings was up 4.9 percent from 2011. This year's transient business demand through March, meanwhile, increased 2.3 percent year over year with a 5 percent increase in the average rate.
