New Lanyon Tool Compares Negotiated, Public Hotel Rates
Hotel sourcing technology supplier Lanyon this week launched a new service that compares negotiated rates with other rates available from consumer websites.
Called Rate Parity, the tool checks pricing for a program's preferred properties at such consumer sites at Hotels.com and hotel company sites and provides buyers with a detailed report on the differentials, which they in turn can use in discussions and negotiations with hoteliers. The tool also requests for future pricing from the websites to compare rates.
Early tests with Lanyon's corporate buyer showed that preferred properties were offering rates lower than negotiated corporate rates in 30 percent of evaluated bookings. The differential in some cases was as high as 55 percent, according to the company.
