Longtime Marriott International CEO J.W. "Bill" Marriott, Jr., will step down at the end of March, and president and COO Arne Sorenson will take over
the company's top executive position, according to the
company. Marriott, who has served as CEO since 1972, will remain chairman of
the company's board. Sorenson would become only the third CEO in Marriott's
85-year history and the first outside of the Marriott family.
