A former sales leader at Marriott and Carlson properties is
heading corporate sales efforts at Interstate Hotels & Resorts, the company
announced on Tuesday.
Kathleen Barone has joined Interstate as its vice president
of global sales and strategic accounts, taking charge of maintaining the hotel
company's relationships with corporate clients and assisting with sales efforts
across the United States. She reports to Interstate executive vice president of
sales and marketing George Brennan.
Previously in her career, Barone led sales efforts at two
Pittsburgh-area properties. She was director of sales and marketing at the
Pittsburgh Airport Marriott, during which she was honored by the company for
revenue and leadership achievements, and also led sales and marketing efforts
at Pittsburgh's Green Tree Radisson, following a $15 million renovation at the
hotel.
"Kathleen's diverse industry background in hotel sales
and marketing, training and development, revenue management and food and
beverage adds significant depth to our corporate sales opportunities,"
Brennan said in a statement.
Interstate manages or owns 277 properties, largely in the
United States but also in Mexico, India and Europe. Early this year, the
company became a wholly owned subsidiary of Thayer Lodging and China's Jin
Jiang International Hotels Co.
