Average daily hotel rates in January increased year over year in all four major global regions,
according to STR Global. The ADR in the Americas was up 3.7 percent, including a 3.9 percent increase in the United States. The largest rate increases in the region were in New Orleans (24.1 percent), São Paulo (15.5 percent), Rio de Janeiro (13.7 percent) and San Francisco (10.4 percent). Both New York and Washington had slight ADR decreases. In Europe, January rates measured in euros increased by 1.7 percent overall, including significant jumps in Tallinn, Estonia (24.7 percent), Paris (13.7 percent) and Tel Aviv (12.7 percent). Asia/Pacific's ADR increased 9.8 percent, with the largest U.S. dollar rate increases in Hong Kong (19.7 percent), Jakarta (17.9 percent) and Osaka (15.8 percent). ADR in New Delhi plummeted by 15.8 percent. The Middle East/Africa average daily rate increased by 6.4 percent, with fastest regional growth in Dubai (11.8 percent) and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (13.4 percent).
