Group reservations on the books at North American hotels for the first quarter of 2014 are trending nearly 10 percent higher than the prior year,
according to data from TravelClick. The average daily
rate on those reservations is up 2.6 percent year over year. TravelClick
executive vice president Tim Hart noted that although group sales were a
"disappointment" during the first nine months of 2013, they have been
"quite strong" since. Transient business reservations at North
American hotels for the first quarter are up 1.9 percent year over year, and
the ADR on those bookings is up 10.8 percent.
